Rottweiler Found Shot To Death In Cemetery - Pa.

If you have any information, you're asked to call Collingdale police at 610-586-0502.

COLLINGDALE, Pa. -  A Rottweiler dog was found shot to death laying on a patch of grass at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Collingdale Tuesday evening.

According to the Collingdale Police Department, officers were called to the cemetery at 5:30 p.m., where they found the dog laying in an area toward the back of the cemetery with a dog treat just inches away from its mouth.

Police report noticing a wound to the top of the dog's head. An empty shell casing and a live round were found seven feet away.

A microchip embedded in the dog helped police and Delaware County Animal Control investigators to trace the dog's last registered owner, a resident who lived on Chestnut Street in Collingdale.

Investigators say injuries to the dog led them to believe it was either used as a bait dog for fighting or a fighting dog.

A person interviewed by police described the dog as being friendly.

Police are now searching for the dog's last owner, who they believe to be named Paul Henderson.

If you have any information, you're asked to call Collingdale police at 610-586-0502.

Update for our Rescue Nina - Still needing a forever home

Our Rescue Nina had spent a whole weekend with a potential new family.
She had visited with them twice before this visit. First with me there and then me leaving for short time during the day.

The transition went pretty well overall. But this will not be the home for Nina. We have Nina very socialized with children but Nina has never lived in a home with children. While she was very obedient. The child in the home was not ready and not comfortable with a big dog. Nina liked the child but did not listen or obey to the child.

My rehab programs are built around a healthy pack structure so it is very important for Nina's future new family to understand Canine Pack Structure and how to lay the groundwork when introducing an adult dog or dog at any age into the home. You can read some information here. This is one of my favorites sites. And the most imformation on this subject in a very easy to understand language. Leerburg.com

Nina has been with us for almost 2 years. She came out of NYCACC Shelter and was taken there by police after her people got busted for drugs and other stuff. And of course she was on the Euth list for failing the evaluation. She was used to guard the factory for the most part and had no real training or socialization of any kind. Sooooo.... me being me.....Kodis Club pulled her and I agreed to bring her aboard.
And she was pregnant on top of it all. Her whole litter died. She was a very sad girl. She has been a worker here. She was one of the primary care-doers for Georgie C, Doug, and puppies that came in and more. A very self assured dog with a nurturing personality and the normal Rottweiler calm confident disposition.

She has been a real joy to work with and she has excelled in her obedience training.
She is such a good girl. She is all Rottweiler that is for sure. Her future new family is Rottweiler Experienced and they understand the importance of the proper groundwork to ensure a healthy bond.

One day a family will know that Nina is the Rottie Girl for them. Until till then. She will remain here. If you are interested in fostering Nina or any of the Rescues we bring in to rehab. Please feel free to contact us or visit our website www.rottstop.com
